Matt, Brianna and Lucy Reynolds

Matt Reynolds
6’6” 310 pounds
Offensive Lineman- Left tackle

Although Matt comes from a huge football family, he didn’t start playing until he was in 7th grade. His football career started off a little rocky, one coach actually told him that he should probably quit football and just stick to basketball! Luckily, he didn’t take that advice and went on to start on the Timpview High School varsity team as a freshman. (It’s not often you find a 6’5” 250 pound athletic 15 year old!) Throughout his high school career he played defensive end, tight end, and of course left tackle, which is what he plays now at BYU. His heart has always been with the O-line.

Matt has grown up loving BYU football. His dad played at BYU as an offensive lineman and went on to the NFL where he played for the Eagles and the Stealers before returning to BYU to coach. He has been coaching for the Y Matt’s entire life and is the current tight end coach now. His two older brothers Lance and Dallas also played for BYU before going on to the NFL and his little brother Houston is currently playing on the team as an O-Lineman with Matt.

Anyone who knows Matt knows that he loves to go jet skiing and boating with family and friends, he will play x box with his brothers any chance he can get, he loves to eat especially if it is steak, he could quote Nacho Libre from start to finish, he collects coins, he can out-juggle the best of the best, he loves spending time with me and our daughter Lucy, he served a mission to Germany and loves speaking in German with his little brother who also served there, and he may seem quiet but is actually a huge goof ball.

Matt and I are both from Provo Utah and are lucky enough to have both of our families here for love and support. At almost every game Matt has his mom, older sister, older brother and sister-in-law, a mother and father-in-law, 2 sister-in-laws, 2 brother-in-laws, and a very proud wife cheering him on. That’s not to mention his Dad coaching up in the press box, his brother watching from Philly, and his little brother down on the field. It is a great thing to be supported by so much love and we are so blessed. Matt and I have been married now for about 2 ½ years and we welcomed our sweet baby girl Lucy into our family last December. Matt is going to graduate this fall from BYU with a major in home and family living. He has hopes and dreams of continuing on with his football career in the NFL and then one day eventually becoming a marriage counselor or football coach.

It is exciting to think of the future and what it holds, but for now, Matt and I both are getting ready for yet another great football season. Go Cougars!!

Bryan and Sam Kariya

Bryan has been playing football for 14 years, playing as on the offensive line, a defensive end, linebacker, full back, and tail back. I, on the other hand, had to read Football for Dummies when we began dating, since I was much more interested in playing where's Waldo with the crowd, than watching what took place on the field. Bryan is half Japanese, so of course he has superstitions. His pre-game ritual is to eat an apple, (which is odd because he never eats them at home... doesn't want to take this lucky charm too lightly perhaps), and gets dressed in a very particular order. However, when I was questioning him about his lucky charms, he very astutely noticed that he was neglecting one very important one... me. So, now he claims that his real good-luck charm is his incredibly charming, funny, and intelligent wife, (I'm sure he would have used those words had he thought of them). His hobbies include mountain biking, playing tennis, hanging out with his dog, and non-school reading. We've been lucky enough to participate in a humanitarian trip to Kenya together, and hope our future holds more of those.

Bryan is probably best known for the 2009 Oklahoma game played in Cowboys Stadium. But if you ask him, his most memorable moment on the field was in our very own LE Stadium against UNLV when he blocked a punt. His favorite overall BYU football moment? When Kyle Morrell jumped over the line to sack the QB on the goal line of Hawaii. Interesting fact: Kyle Morrell now has a daughter with the same name as my sister--Mykol, and get this, he was thoughtful enough to ask my sister's permission to use it! Coach Reynolds has been a very inspiring and influencial person to Bryan. His advice to play with composure has stuck with Bryan, and I'm sure will transfer to other areas of his life.

Bryan's support system is big, with a mom and dad (Bob and Sandy Kariya), grandparents, mother- and father-in-law, and wife who attend close to every game of the season. His siblings and cutest-kid-you've-ever-seen nephew also make it to as many games as possible. Bryan and I have been married for 2 1/2 years, and we have a dog named Warner. After the good ol' glory days of BYU football are over, we plan to travel to China for six months (where Bryan can feel justified in choosing Chinese as his major), then head off to dental school. We are extremely grateful for the BYU football program and what it represents. It has brought incredible blessings and joy to our lives. Thanks for your interest and support!

Devin and Lindsay Mahina

Tight End Sophomore
6'6" 250lbs
Upland HS/ Ontario, CA

Devin began playing football when he was 8 years old. He wasn't always as into it as he is now. He told his dad he was sick one day to try and get out of practice, but his dad made him go anyway. Ever since then he has loved it. For a little while, Devin played quarterback. But in high school he found the spot he loved as Tight End, he also played Defensive End, but loved his position as Tight End much more. Devin also played basketball for 3 years in high school.

Devin is a very athletic kid, and has so much heart. Even if he isn't good at something right away, he practices until he gets it perfect. He was pulled up to the Varsity Football team his Freshman year. On game days he tends to keep to himself, he likes to prepare himself mentally for the game.

Devin got his Eagle Scout when he 14 years old. He served a mission in Antananarivo, Madagascar from February 2008 - December 2009. He came home 2 months early to begin conditioning for football. Something he doesn't tell many people is that on his mission he baptized 101 people. He plans to study Sports Marketing.

Devin married his high school sweetheart, Lindsay, on July 30, 2010. They began dating in 2005 when they were 16 and she waited for him while he was serving his mission. They now live in Provo, Utah, but hope to be able to move back to California one day.

Robbie Buckner

Cornerback (field) Sophomore
5/10 ½ 180 lbs
Ashdown HS/ Ashdown, AR

Robbie started playing football in the 4th grade where his Dad was lucky enough to coach him until 7th grade when the Jr. High took over. He has always loved football but excelled at many sports.

Many people do not know that Robbie was a 2 time State Champion in the 400 m. and in 10th grade won state in the 800 m. His senior year he was the State of AR Decathlon Champion. Something that might surprise people is that Robbie is pretty good with computers.

Robbie served his mission in the Mozamquie, Maputo Mission during the 2007 & 2008 seasons. He spoke the Portuguese language. Robbie is a twin; he has a twin sister named Meagan. Jacob is Rob’s little brother and he is 16 years old. Robbie is the son of very proud parents Paul and Marne Buckner and is a very proud Uncle to Elise.

Terence and Sara

Offensive Line
6-3, 340, Jr.
Summerville, SC / Summerville HS
Terence started to play football seriously at Summerville High School in Summerville, South Carolina. He has always loved sports especially football where he devoted most of his time growing up.
Many people may not know that Terence is an avid golfer and anytime he has a chance to play with friends or family he is ready and willing to scramble.
Terence loves getting to the stadium as early as possible to get ready for the game. He often won’t talk about his opponent or the upcoming game for days leading up to the event; he is strict about this rule and will let you know if you infringe upon it. Terence is currently majoring in Physical Education Teaching at BYU and loves the opportunities that it has given him to meet new friends and work with children.
Terence served a full time mission in Maceio, Brazil from 2006 to 2008. Terence was born in American Fork Utah to Robert and Nina Brown and is the oldest of seven children. He married Sara Brown in 2009 and they have been living in Provo having fun with their families, friends and 2 puppies. Terence loves to work in the yard and develop new and creative ideas to implement in their yard.
